The Mount Hood Recreation Company – a division of Northwest Land Management – operates all of the developed camping and day use facilities on the Mt. Hood National Forest just east of Portland, Oregon. Recreation facilities are accessed via US Highway 26 through the Zig Zag area or up the Clackamas River drainage out of Estacada. Popular spots on the mountain include Tillicum Lake and Bagby Hot Springs. Guests also enjoy visiting the historic Timberline Lodge near the summit of the mountain.
On the Clackamas River side, the company operates a store at Ripplebrook – the gateway to the high country of Mt. Hood. It is your last stop for groceries, clothing, snack, and other items you may have left behind before you enter the back country.
Camping at Mt. Hood is very easily accessed from Portland and is a great base of operations to visit the scenic Columbia River Gorge with all of its many attractions.
